الْآخِرُ
Al-Akhir
The One who has no end, remaining in existence after all things have perished.
Hadîd 57:3
Al-Akhir declares that Allah will continue to exist after everything—His being has no end. All creatures are perishing; the heavens and the earth will end. But Allah will remain. In Surah ar-Rahman 55:26-27 He says: 'Everything on the earth will perish; and there remains the Face of your Lord, possessor of Majesty and Honor.' The servant who reflects on this name sees that everything in this world is temporary—knowing that one day they will leave family, wealth, health, and lifespan behind, but Al-Akhir always remains. To bind the heart only to Him is the assurance of the Hereafter.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say before sleep: 'O Allah! You are the First, before whom there is nothing; You are the Last, after whom there is nothing.'
