الْعَلِيمُ
Al-'Alim
The One whose knowledge is infinite, encompassing everything hidden and manifest without the slightest omission.
Bakara 2:29
Al-'Alim declares that Allah's knowledge encompasses the past, the future, the apparent, and the hidden—every depth of every heart and every atom of the universe. His knowledge is without limit: He neither forgets nor errs. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said 'Deeds are by intentions,' teaching that even hidden intentions are known and weighed before Allah. The servant who invokes Al-'Alim remembers that no act escapes notice and no intention, however buried, is unseen—an awareness that shields from ostentation, deepens sincerity, and shapes every daily decision under the shade of His perfect knowledge.
'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Deeds are only by intentions, and every person will have only what he intended. So whoever's migration was for Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; and whoever's migration was for some worldly gain or to marry a woman, his migration is to whatever he migrated for.'
