الْبَرُّ
Al-Barr
The One who is abundant in goodness and benevolence, treating His servants with grace and kindness.
Tûr 52:28
Al-Barr declares that Allah is the source of goodness, continually delivering virtues to His servants. In Surah at-Tur 52:28 He says: 'Indeed, we used to call upon Him before; indeed, He is the Most Kind, the Most Merciful.' The word Al-Barr means 'the source of all goodness, the One who is always good.' The servant who reflects on this name sees the goods around them—health, family, friends, education, food—as rivers flowing from a single source, and imitates Al-Barr's character themselves by doing good to others.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Among the greatest acts of goodness is that a person treats his father's friends with kindness.'
