الْحَمِيدُ
Al-Hamid
The One who is deserving of all praise, the true owner of every expression of gratitude and commendation.
Fâtır 35:15
Al-Hamid declares that Allah is the only One worthy of all praise and laudation. In Surah Ibrahim 14:1 He says: 'This Quran has been sent down so that you may bring people out of darkness into the light by the permission of their Lord—to the path of the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.' Every praise—for a wish fulfilled, a blessing received, a protection given—returns to Allah as its true Owner. The servant who reflects on this name says 'Alhamdulillah' for every good small or great—instead of accepting others' praise, they redirect it to Allah. Surah al-Fatihah opens with 'Alhamdulillahi Rabbi'l-'alamin'—this is salah's daily lesson.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Purity is half of faith. Alhamdulillah fills the scale; Subhan-Allah and Alhamdulillah fill what is between the heavens and the earth.'
