الْكَرِيمُ
Al-Karim
The One whose generosity is boundless, blessing His servants with gifts and favour far beyond their deserving.
İnfitâr 82:6
Al-Karim declares that Allah's generosity is without limit and that He expects no compensation from the servant before giving. In Surah an-Naml 27:40 Prophet Sulayman (peace be upon him) says: 'Indeed, my Lord is Self-Sufficient and Generous.' Al-Karim is generous even in forgiving—delaying punishment for the sinner, accepting tawbah, granting great return for a small intention. The servant who reflects on this name acquires the character of generosity themselves—living it not as a strain but as a trait born from within. It is reported that Allah does not turn back a du'a in which the servant addresses Him as 'Ya Karim.'
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah is modest (Hayyi) and Generous (Karim); when a servant raises their hands to Him, He is shy of turning them back empty.'
