الْمَجِيدُ
Al-Majid
The One whose glory, honour, and generosity are without end, holding the most exalted station.
Hûd 11:73
Al-Majid declares that Allah's glory is exalted, His honor without limit, and all praise of Him falls short of expressing His magnificence. In Surah al-Buruj 85:15 He says: 'The Owner of the Throne, the Glorious.' This name is often invoked alongside 'Dhu al-Jalal wa al-Ikram' (Possessor of Majesty and Honor)—awe and generosity meet in the same Essence. The servant who reflects on this name knows when praising Allah that no words suffice to convey His glory—saying 'Subhan-Allahi wa bi-hamdihi' and recognizing their tasbih as incomplete. This awareness of incompleteness is the beginning of adab.
Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says one hundred times a day Subhan-Allahi wa bi-hamdihi, his sins will be forgiven even if they were as the foam of the sea.'
