الْمُحْيِي
Al-Muhyi
The One who grants life to all living beings and revives dead earth with rain and growth.
Rûm 30:50
Al-Muhyi declares that Allah gives life—bringing forth green growth from dead earth and bestowing iman upon dead hearts. In Surah al-Hajj 22:6 He says: 'That is because Allah is the Truth, He gives life to the dead, and He has power over all things.' Spring is the manifestation of Al-Muhyi—a seed fallen to the earth becomes a new plant; a heart fallen into the mud of sin finds new life through tawbah. The servant who reflects on this name takes refuge in Allah's reviving power even in their most hopeless hours—through the remembrance of Al-Muhyi they hope to revive a heart that had been spiritually dead.
When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood for night prayer, he used to say: 'O Allah, my Lord, praise belongs to You. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and all therein; You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all therein; You are the Truth, Your promise is true, Your meeting is true, Your word is true, Paradise is true, Hellfire is true.'
