Al-Muqaddim
The One who brings forward whomever He wills, advancing the deserving to a higher station.
Al-Muqaddim declares that Allah brings forward, elevates, and advances whomever He wills. He is the One who determines order, rank, and station. In one of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) supplications it appears: 'O Allah, You are the One who advances, You are the One who delays.' The servant who reflects on this name avoids saying 'my own achievement' when they rise in life—they know it is Allah who advanced them. They acquire humility, for both rising and falling behind are in Al-Muqaddim's hand.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to pray in tahajjud: 'O Allah, forgive my past and future sins, my hidden and open sins, my excesses, and the sins You know better than I. You are the One who advances, You are the One who delays. There is no god but You.'
