الْوَكِيلُ
Al-Wakil
The One who manages the affairs of those who rely upon Him in the best possible manner.
Âl-i İmrân 3:173
Al-Wakil declares that Allah takes on the affairs of His servants, suffices them, and decrees as He wills. In Surah Ali 'Imran 3:173 the word the Companions said after Uhud, facing the enemy, is preserved: 'Hasbun-Allahu wa ni'mal-Wakil'—Allah is sufficient for us, and how excellent is the Disposer of affairs. This phrase is the du'a Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said when cast into the fire; it has been the word of the believers in every hard time across history. The servant who reflects on this name entrusts the matters beyond their strength to Al-Wakil—they take the means, exert themselves, and leave the outcome to Him.
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The phrase 'Hasbun-Allahu wa ni'mal-Wakil' was said by Ibrahim when cast into the fire. Muhammad (peace be upon him) said the same when people told him: 'The enemy has gathered against you, so fear them.'
