Surah At-Takathur is the one-hundred-second surah of the Quran, comprising eight verses on how the race to amass wealth, offspring, and numbers distracts the human being from his true purpose. The surah takes its name from the word takathur, the competition for more. It declares that this rivalry diverts people until they visit the graves; the warning that they will soon come to know is then repeated, followed by the announcement that Hellfire will be seen with certainty and that on that Day people will be asked about the blessings they enjoyed. In an age shaped by consumption and display, the surah speaks with striking immediacy about the deception of making possession the measure of life, and about the responsibility that every blessing entails.
Surah At-Takathur was revealed in the Meccan period. It addresses the mindset of a society in which tribal pride and boasting in wealth and lineage were widespread. Some commentaries transmit reports that it came down concerning groups who vied over their numbers, but these are not regarded as a definitive occasion of revelation; the surah's warning is directed at all humanity.
The surah's main themes are worldliness, heedlessness, and the accounting of blessings. Verses 102:1-2 state that the race for more distracts people until they visit the graves, a piercing critique of a life consumed by accumulation. In 102:3-4 the warning 'soon you will know' is repeated for emphasis; 102:5-7 evoke the shock of knowing with certainty and of seeing Hellfire with the eye of certainty. The final verse, 102:8, announcing that on that Day every blessing will be asked about, is a foundational reference for the bond between blessing and responsibility.

Hayır; öyle olmayın; yakında bileceksiniz
Hayır; gözünüzü açın; yakında bileceksiniz
And olsun ki, cehennemi göreceksiniz
And olsun ki, onu gözünüzle kesin olarak göreceksiniz
