سورة الفيل
Surah Al-Fil is the one-hundred-fifth surah of the Quran, comprising five verses that recount how God destroyed the army that marched on Mecca with elephants to demolish the Kaaba. The surah takes its name from those elephants; the event is known in history as the Incident of the Elephant, and the year, widely held to coincide with the Prophet's birth, as the Year of the Elephant. The surah relates that birds sent in flocks pelted the army with stones until it was left like devoured chaff. Demonstrating that the Kaaba's protector is God and that no scheme built on brute force can stand against the divine will, the surah reminds today's reader that God's protection operates independently of any balance of material power.
Surah Al-Fil was revealed in the Meccan period. It recalls the Incident of the Elephant, which took place shortly before the Prophet's birth and remained vivid in Meccan memory: the failed expedition of Abraha, the ruler of Yemen, to destroy the Kaaba was a historical event the surah's first audience knew firsthand. By appealing to this shared memory, the surah presents living proof of God's power.
The surah's central theme is a concrete historical instance of God protecting His House and His religion. Verses 105:1-2 recall, in an interrogative style, how the plot of the army of the elephant was brought to nothing; 105:3-4 relate that birds sent in successive flocks pelted them with stones of baked clay. Verse 105:5 states that the army was rendered like devoured chaff, an image of imposing power reduced in a moment to worthless residue. The surah weaves together divine protection against arrogant force and trust in God.

أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلࣲ
Onların düzenlerini boşa çıkarmadı mı
وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
Onların üzerine, sert taşlar atan sürülerle kuşlar gönderdi

Sonunda onları, yenilmiş ekin gibi yaptı
