Surah Quraysh is the 106th surah of the Quran; it consists of four verses and addresses blessing, security, and gratitude. The surah reminds Quraysh, the ruling tribe of Mecca, of two great favors: the safety of their trade caravans and the security of life around the Sacred House. It declares that the true source of these blessings is Allah, the Lord of the Kaaba, and that gratitude is owed through worshipping Him alone. It forms a thematic pair with Surah Al-Fil, which precedes it in the mushaf: the God who protected the Kaaba is the same God who feeds and protects those who live around it. Verses 106:1-2 mention the secure trading journeys of winter and summer as a divine favor; 106:3 issues the call to worship the Lord of this House; and 106:4 recalls that it is Allah who fed them against hunger and made them safe from fear.
